Money for old rope

Posted on the February 27th, 2009 under poor by rob

Now I don’t buy masses of stuff online, but if I do it’s always nice to get some cashback for it.

That’s why Topcashback seems to be the most obvious thing in the world.

I first heard about it via moneysavingexpert.com and needed to renew my car insurance, so gave it a whirl. Now I’m hooked.

Whether you’re buying clothes or CDs from places like M&S or play.com, or bigger things like car insurance and car breakdown, you can get sizeable amounts of money paid back to you.

In the past couple of months I’ve accrued more than £50 for buying things I needed anyway. In fact, that’s the genius of it – if you’re going to buy something regardless, you may as well make something extra.

Check it out for yourself – you’ll probably be quite surprised. Oh, and if you sign up using my referral, I even get a kickback – something you could take advantage of yourself if you then join!

What a difference a year can make…

Last February, A was just coming up to her 2nd birthday and saying two-word phrases at most. Her preference was for individual utterances.

Today, a month from turning 3, A made this statement, while looking at CDs.

I don’t want to dance to the Sugarcubes, I want to dance to the Ting Tings!

How time flies…

Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman

Posted on the February 12th, 2009 under celebs, tv, video by rob

This is one of the more bizarre, but genuinely entertaining celeb talk show interviews you’ll see for a while.

There has been speculation that Joaquin Phoenix was being serious, but I think it’s clear that even though David Letterman wasn’t in on the gag, he’s playing it for laughs.

Think about it this way: if Joaquin had gone on David Letterman and just given a straight interview, no-one would probably remember it. Now, it’s quickly become an internet phenomenon and tens of thousands of internet goers will have heard of Two Lovers, the movie he’s on plugging.

Enjoy!

Where did that come from?

Shock, horror! The Met Office gets a weather forecast right for once.

I can honestly say, this is probably the heaviest snow in the UK I’ve seen in a good 10 years. At least 12″ and with more still coming…

Photographic evidence below…

Snow in the back garden

And snow in from the front of the house!
