One thing I can get passionate about is kitchen gadgets and lovely design of the aforementioned.
Many people wouldn't really consider a pepper mill a gadget, but it does a job that can't really be done by hand, so it qualifies in my book. Over the years, we've tried a number of different types of pepper grinder. Invariably they collapse or break after a couple of years' use and are also extremely difficult to fine tune: you either get half-peppercorns or fine dust. And then we happened upon Jamie Oliver's new shop in Brighton called Recipease and spotted this rather fine Flo grinder. Admittedly £30 is a lot, but it not only produces perfect pepper, but it also looks bloody marvellous. A true design classic in the makingCategory: Uncategorized
Lovely iPod touch
A bit late to the party, but I finally bought myself an iPod touch last week.
I wasn’t willing company with £40 a month to get an iPhone, so went for the next best option.
I’ve always been a huge Apple fan, but my expectations were exceeded with the iPod touch. I know it’s old hat now, but the ability to shrink and magnify text with a quick flick of the fingers is fantastic.
Coupled with that, the wonderfully smooth navigation of your iTunes library and the ability to download apps to use Twitter and the like and you have what can only be described as the perfect device.
I just hope I don’t leave it so long next time I need an update to experience the wonder of an Apple device.
80s’ pop wonderment via @juderogers
I’m an 80s kid, so reading anything now that talks about those hedonistic times is very enjoyable, simply because I wasn’t really old enough to appreciate it.
This fantastic blog detailing a bit of graphic design and typograhpy, mixed with some awesome 80s pop stories is compelling reading.
Even if you can take or leave Pete Burns, there are also some fab stories about the likes of Grace Jones, Thompson Twins, Tom Robinson and more.
